Samsung Galaxy S8 launch may delay following Note 7 recall
Korean smartphone giant, Samsung is expected to delay the launch of its next flagship device, Galaxy S8, after the mass recall of the Galaxy Note 7 phablet.
The Galaxy S8 is already been in the rumour mill for a while, and now new reports also give a glimpse of the features the device will sport.
A recent speculation from an analyst suggests that the next flagship will be delayed up till the end of the first quarter next year and may decrease the "profitability of the mobile business division".
According to Kim Sang-pyo, an analyst at the KB Investment & Securities, "Regardless of the sales resumption, an earlier launch of a new quality flagship model seems to be the most realistic solution to dealing with the current recall crisis."
Samsung is allegedly working on two versions of the next flagship smartphone under the codename Dream and Dream2, and said to bear model numbers SM-G950 and SM-G955 respectively.
Other online rumours and speculations suggest that the device will be powered by a Exynos 8895 processor. It is expected to sport a 5.5-inch 4K UHD display with a resolution of 3840X2160 pixels, and 6GB of RAM. Also, the smartphone is likely to run on Google’s latest operating system, Android 7.0 Nougat.
The company is also expected to ditch the flat screen variant of the flagship smartphone and will only ship in dual-edge curve display, reports Korean Herald.
However, Samsung has not confirmed any of the rumors yet. More information will be revealed closer to the Galaxy S8 launch.
