Honor 9i/Honor 9X India launch expected on July 24

Based on the China launch, the Honor 9i runs on an octa-core HiSilicon Kirin 659 chipset, clubbed with Mali T830-MP2 GPU.

Last month, Huawei sub-brand Honor launched two smartphones — Honor 9i and Honor Play in China. Now, the company is rumoured to unveil either Honor 9i or Play in India, which is slated to release on July 24.

Honor tweeted about the event, also stating, “The epitome of beauty is coming your way sooner than you think!”. Additionally, the tweet also includes a teaser video, which comes with a “#NOORDINARYBEAUTY” hashtag.

The tweet doesn't mention which smartphone will make it to the Indian shores. However, speculations are rife that Honor could launch Honor 9i, which is said to be rebranded as the Honor 9X for the Indian market. According to a report from last month, the company will launch the Honor 9X in India, which is expected to be priced around Rs 15,000.

In China, the Honor 9i (aka Honor 9X) has been priced at RMB 1,399 (approximately Rs 14,300) for the 64GB variant and RMB 1,699 (approximately Rs 17,400) for the 128GB storage variant respectively. The device features a 5.84-inch full HD+ IPS display with a 19:9 aspect ratio. It is powered by an octa-core HiSilicon Kirin 659 chipset, clubbed with Mali T830-MP2 GPU. The smartphone comes with 4GB of RAM. In terms of optics, there is a dual rear camera setup, that consists of 13MP and 2MP camera sensors. Upfront, there is a 16MP selfie camera with AI enhancements. It is backed by a 3000mAh battery and runs on Android 8.0 Oreo with EMUI 8.0 on top.

Apart from 9X, Honor is also expected to unveil the Note 10 soon, though it is unlikely that this device will debut in India in the coming days.
