Samsung Galaxy S8+ is the top dog,' claims Consumer Reports
Independent analysis conducted by American magazine Consumers Reports reviewed the top flagship smartphones in the market at the moment. As per their verdict, Samsung Galaxy S8+ citing a ‘stunning camera, long battery life and gorgeous display,’ ended up on top of the list. Surprisingly, Apple’s iPhone 7 Plus was nowhere to found until the fifth position in the listing.
“The phones occupying the loftiest spots in the Consumer Reports smartphone ratings all excel at nearly everything, but there's always one top dog, and at the moment it's the Samsung Galaxy S8+, followed closely by its slightly smaller sibling, the Galaxy S8,” the report read. “If you want a stunning camera, long battery life, and gorgeous display in a water-resistant package, one of these could be the right phone for you,” it added.
While Galaxy S8 Plus topped the list — it was followed by Galaxy S8, Galaxy S7 Edge, LG G6 and Apple iPhone 7 Plus on the second, third, fourth and fifth positions respectively.
The device’s overhauled design has been emphasised by Consumer Reports writer Jerry Beilinson. The Galaxy S8 Plus which was launched earlier this year, packs a bezel-less design on each sides with thin ones located on top and bottom. The smartphone represents a minimalist look and is believed to support a modern and elegant feel.
The Samsung S8 and S8 Plus smartphones have an unusual aspect ratio of 18: 5: 9. “Those numbers may not sound terribly different, but when you hold either phone in your hand, it feels novel: easy to grasp even if you have a small grip, but with lots of screen real estate,” explained Beilinson. “The S8 is 5.8 inches diagonally (that's the way screens are measured), while the S8+ is 6.2 inches. Those are huge numbers by phone standards,” he added.
