Xiaomi's POCO F1 leaks in hands-on video with plastic rear panel, SD 845 SoC

The device will feature a Snapdragon 845 chip, liquid cooling system and a plastic rear panel.

Xiaomi’s latest sub-brand is geared up to reveal their first smartphone in India on August 22. The company has been teasing super-fast performance for its first device — the POCO F1. While everything else is kept under wraps, an unboxing video of the POCO F1 leaked on YouTube, giving out all the details about the device.

The video, uploaded by GSM Dome on YouTube, has leaked out the global variant of the device. The video shows the POCOPHONE F1 being unboxed while showing all the contents of the retail unit — an adapter, a USB-C data transfer cable and a couple of leaflets. The presenter goes on to show the POCOPHONE F1 in detail — a notched display and a plastic rear panel with a dual camera setup. The POCOPHONE F1 is found to be running MIUI 9 out-of-the-box. The camera app contains a lot of AI features to enhance the photos and shoot portrait selfies, with the rear shooter sporting the ability to shoot 4K videos.

POCO F1 leak

The illustrations on the retail box suggest that the POCO F1 will feature liquid cooling technology for maintaining peak performance while gaming or playing 4K videos. The POCO F1 is also supposed to feature a large 4000mAh battery. It sports a 5.99-inch LCD display with a notch on top and a narrow chin at the bottom. The notch also hides an IR sensor based facial recognition system. The device in the video is shown containing 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.

While it seems believable, POCO India hasn’t made any information official, which is why we suggest you take this video with a pinch of salt. However, judging by the leaks, the POCO F1 is supposed to be a performance oriented smartphone meant for hosting graphics-intensive titles easily. The only real mystery is the price —will POCO price it against the recently unveiled Honor Play or shove it in the OnePlus 6 territory?
