iPhone X users complaint FaceID getting slower with time
Apple iPhone X has been the talk of the town ever since it saw the light of the day. But amidst the entire buzz, many users have started complaining about the FaceID getting sluggish each passing day for no reason.
The Cupertino giant touted the FaceID as the biggest highlight of the iPhone X during its launch. Although on paper the FaceID is tad slower than the TouchID, the real life experience is improved because apps can be launched directly from the notifications screen without having to take any extra steps.
Although, the feature seems to be fast at first, it turns out that it is getting slower with time. Several users have complaint about the matter on reddit that it taking longer than usual to unlock their phones.
One iPhone X user claims that the FaceID was so fast at first that “there wasn’t even a delay when I swiped up to unlock,” but after few days of using the phones it became slower “to the point where it is very noticeable” regardless of the lighting conditions.
Resetting the FaceID also doesn’t seem to resolve the issue, and while while some believe it’s all because iPhone X owners are getting used to Face ID and expect the technology to work faster, other believe that the problem appeared after the iOS 11.1.1 update.
However, this doesn’t seem to be a widespread issue and reports are still mixed at this point, with some users claiming a noticeable slowdown, others say that their phones are working as fast as on day one.
In some cases, users have also reported that the FaceID fails more often than before, with two or three scan attempts before successful unlock. Apple is yet to say something on the matter, but will possibly provide a software fix when the next iOS update is rolled out.
