Apple to discontinue two current iPhone models in 2019 lineup

A new leak suggests that Apple will be launching the iPhone XR in two new colour options.

With Apple set to launch their next iPhones in September, rumours about them are ramping up. Production of Apple’s A13 Bionic chipset has already gone into mass production that will feature in the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11R and now we hear that the Cupertino-based brand will launch the next generation iPhone XR in two new colour options.

As per a report by Macotakara, Apple will launch the iPhone 11R in a total of six colours and will retain the Black, White, Yellow and (Product) Red options. However, for this year’s model, Apple will discontinue two existing colours — Coral and Blue and replace them with a new Green and Lavender options.

Makotakara states, “According to the reliable information sources, the iPhone 6.1 LCD 2019 model will be 6 colours, which is Green and Lavender colour instead of Coral and Blue, in addition to the current 4 colours, White, Black, Yellow and (PRODUCT) RED.”

For the uninitiated, the iPhone XR is the first handset since the iPhone 5C to be launched in a wide range of colour options. The brand has used their colours as a marketing tool to set this product apart from the iPhone XS and XS Max and even used it in it's 'Color Flood’ ad that dropped last year.

The 2019 iPhone XR is expected to come loaded with the same A13 Bionic processor like the iPhone 11 and 11 Max and will come with twin shooters on the rear. The top-end iPhone 11 is expected to come with three rear cameras that are housed in a new square camera bump. Other features that could make it to the handset are redesigned antennas, two-way wireless charging and larger batteries.
