Season Finale! OnePlus ends the festive season with a bang

While the OnePlus 6 was a successful affair, expectations from the 6T were higher.

Take any sitcom or web series. While each episode hooks you with a new character, a new twist or a new scandal, the season finally ends on a high. Think of 2018 as an entertainment series starring the various smartphones that were released through the year: the occasional flagships, supported by value-for-money mid-range players, with a handful of characters creating comic relief (a motorized camera for instance), and a lot of lesser known background artistes! The mobile song-and-dance saga of 2018 is finally coming to an end and the late entrant seems to be the OnePlus 6T handset, on whom falls the burden of creating a fitting finale.

While the OnePlus 6 was a successful affair, expectations from the 6T were higher. Audiences are likely to be happy with the masala package that OnePlus has created for the latest device. The 6T that features a larger-than-life 6.41-inch optic AMOLED screen (19.5:9 aspect ratio) with Gorilla Glass 6, is powered by the premium Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, that features interesting innovations that enhances performance, aided by the Adreno 630 graphics card.

OnePlus claims that its App Cold Start feature boosts speeds by 20 per cent. Frequently used apps are identified by the 6T and stored in the RAM, aiding quick fire-ups and freeing space in the ROM. As usage patterns change, apps are dynamically moved from RAM to ROM until an optimum level of performance is attained.

The phone comes with a Nightscape mode that facilitates better night photography, by ensuring less image noise, better clarity and enhanced edge detection in images, leading to sharper images. While the front camera is a single 16MP lens, the back camera of the 6T comes in a 16MP + 20MP configuration with Sony IMX 519/376K sensor. The 6T also happens to the first device from OnePlus that comes with screen unlock, making the experience an immersive and fast one, as it claims to unlock in 0.34 seconds. Also, an interesting feature called Studio Lighting ensures that your selfies are professional looking, with wholesome lighting and effects.

Juiced up by a 3700mAh battery, the 6T supports 38 global network bands and promises Android updates for two years and security updates for three years. Available in multiple variants, the 6T is priced at Rs 37,999 (6GB + 128GB), Rs 41,999 (8GB + 128GB) and Rs 45,999 (8GB + 256GB). Compared to other expensive flagships this season, the 6T is a strong contender, as the season winds down to a close.
