Android N Preview: Key features to lookout for

It offers a split-screen/multi-window app feature, which allows users to toggle between apps seamlessly.

As you all know that Google has already started previewing the next version of its Android operating system two months ahead of schedule in an effort to get the upgraded software on more mobile devices.

Last month, Google’s SVP of Android tweeted that the new OS will be called Nori or just ‘N’. While the OS is all set to be launch two months from now in May, fans and tech buffs are eagerly waiting for the arrival of Android N.

According to a Google blog post, the upgraded OS offers a number of new and exciting features. Here are some of the salient features of Android N.

  • It offers a split-screen/multi-window app feature, which allows users to toggle between apps seamlessly.

  • The new OS also enables Android users to reply directly to notifications, without having to access the main window. This feature is currently avaialable on all smartwatches running on Android Wear.

  • Another noticeable change users can expect is enhanced battery life—an area where previous Android platforms haven’t been up to the mark. The new OS will considerably reduce battery power drawn by apps when the device's screen turns off.

  • Although similar to the marshmallow settings interface, the new Android N takes advantage of modern-day, large-screened devices by revealing more information about each category to help users. For instance, below the battery category, users will now be able to see the percentage of battery left.

  • The developers have also brought back the Night/Dark mode, which essentially reverses the colours making it comfortable for users to read in the dark or at night. Additionally, there is also a feature to automatically turn the night mode on at sunset.

Apart from these major changes, the new OS will also offer several other minor changes. If you want to know the complete set of features, you can watch the video below.
