Apple starts iPhone explosion investigations
Samsung has decided to halt Galaxy Note 7 production after replaced versions of Note 7 have also supposedly overheated or caught fire. Now, following reports about iPhone explosions, Apple is investigating the problem.
Reports of batteries inside iPhone 6 Plus handsets blowing up were recorded last week. In one of the cases, an iPhone 6 Plus exploded in a student’s back pocket and caught fire while he was in class.
“I felt this crazy, hot burning in my leg, right as class was starting, my phone started smoking in my pocket. It was a fire. It was super hot, so I flinched, grabbed it, threw it on the ground. Had to kick it because it was on fire,” Darin Hlavaty told 6ABC.
Another iPhone owner’s Yvette Estrada told ABC30 her iPhone 6 Plus exploded in the middle of the night, further bursting into flames.
“What if this would have been underneath my pillow or if I was on the phone? My face would be burned,” Estrada said. “Hopefully they can fix this, and they can compensate my new phone or do something for me because they have to do right,” she added.
Apple said it is investigating battery explosion of iPhone handsets after reports about it came into their notice.
