Welcome back, Android One!
Wile Android One, Google’s project for entry level devices, didn’t create the sort of global hulabaloo a few years back, that it was intended to, its second coming is a different story. It’s making a comeback, through a Xiaomi smart phone, that saw a global launch in India a few days back. The Mi A1 is the first device to run on the more evolved season 2 of Android One. It is also the first dual lens camera phone to run on Android One. But the device has much more to its credit than simply the fact that it is a collaboration with Google. All round design, camera, sound, performance the Mi A1 is a flagship material!
Pic me up: Most device manufacturers go in for a colour and colour or colour and monochrome combination in their camera lenses. With the Mi A1, Xiaomi has gone with a more expensive wide angle and telephoto combo of lenses. This essentially means that one lens is dedicated exclusively to landscape and the other to portrait, ensuring superior depth, detail and colour performance in real-life.
Hold me: There are small screen phones, there are large screen phones and then there are phones that sit snuggly in the palm of your hand. With a special R&D teams dedicated to hand feel, this device can be operated easily with a single hand.
Hear me sing: These days, it’s just the so-called ‘gaming phones’ that seem to focus on audio performance. The Mi A1, however features a 10V smart power amplifier which amplifies sound and provides clearer, louder and more detail in audio, even at relatively high volumes.
The Mi A1 comes in a 4 GB and 64 GB configuration (expandable up to 128 GB), powered by the Snapdragon 625 processor and a 3,080 mAh battery. The 12 MP and 12 MP dual back and 5 MP front cameras are housed in a 5.5 inches shell. Available in black, gold and rose gold, the Mi A1 is available online at Rs 14,999.
