Pocophone F1 may hit Indian markets in the near future

The Xiaomi sub-brand's first handset could feature a Snapdragon 845 chipset.

It was recently reported that the first smartphone that will come under the Xiaomi sub-brand Pocophone would feature a Snapdragon 845 chipset. The handset has been dubbed the F1 and the confirmation of this smartphone came into being when the company filed the European community trademark registration on May 23. Moreover, it also got through the process of NCC certification as well as FCC certification.

Now, there is an official confirmation that such a smartphone from Pocophone is in the works as Manu Jain of Xiaomi has tweeted, “Full throttle ahead! My best wishes to you @jaimani and the @IndiaPOCO team. I can sense that something wonderful is about to happen.”

This tweet was later followed by another tweet from Xiaomi’s Jai Mani when he released a statement about this upcoming project. He states, “I’m so excited to be embarking on a new journey with a small group of colleagues — a journey that I hope will build on the 4 years I’ve spent with Xiaomi and make the products that I have always dreamt of. We are calling this project POCO and we are extremely fortunate to have the support of Lei Jun, Manu and the rest of Xiaomi.” He goes on to state that POCO is all about making a powerful smartphone with the technologies that truly matter.”

Along with the features which the Pocophone F1 will be offering, the main selling point of the phone is expected to be the usage of Snapdragon 845 chipset and it's speculated pricing of 420 Euros (Rs 33,641). Various reports flowing around the internet have revealed other prospective details about the phone as well. The Pocophone F1 will come with a 5.99-inch IPS LCD display with full HD+ resolution. Boasting the 19:9 aspect ratio, it could also house the trendy notch on the top of the display panel. Out of the box, the phone will run the Android 8.1 Oreo-based MIUI 9 operating system. The handset is expected to be backed by a 4000 mAh battery which could be supported by fast charging. Offering a 6 RAM, it will perhaps come with the options of 64GB and 128GB variants.

There is no exact word on when the handset will launch, but rumours suggest that it should be out by August itself.
