6.1-inch LCD iPhone to be iPhone 8's successor: Report

Leaks from Apple's supply chain have conformed that the LCD iPhone will sell for the same price as iPhone 8.

With September drawing close, the world is getting ready to welcome three iPhone models for 2018. While the successor to the iPhone X will be essentially an upgraded iPhone X alongside a bigger 6.5-inch Plus-sized iPhone, the industry is more interested in the 6.1-inch LCD iPhone that’s supposed to be the new budget offering in this year’s iPhone lineup. And now, a new report confirms its existence along with renders.

According to a report by Forbes, the 6.1-inch iPhone will be priced similarly to the current price of the iPhone 8. This means that the 6.1-inch iPhone will be the successor to the iPhone 8. It will bring the highly-anticipated features from the expensive iPhone X at a price that will be more accessible to the masses.

For starters, the 6.1-inch LCD iPhone will feature a fullscreen display. This will result in losing the TouchID fingerprint sensor. In its place, the much-awaited FaceID will make an appearance. The 3D facial recognition system will help Apple liberate the space from the bottom chin like the iPhone X.

However, in order to keep the costs low, Apple will omit certain features from the cheaper model. As you must have noticed, Apple is expected to use an LCD panel instead of an OLED panel in order to reduce costs. Unlike the iPhone 8, the LCD display here also loses out on 3D Touch.

Moving on to the rear, there will be a single rear camera — primarily to keep the costs low. The single rear camera may not feature the portrait mode of the iPhone 8 Plus, thus reserving it for the expensive models.

If you are disappointed with losing some of the signature modern iPhone features, don’t worry. The report states that Apple will bundle a fast charger with the 6.1-inch iPhone for compensating the omission of most features.

Do note that this is still a leak, which is why we suggest you hold on to your breath until Apple unveils it officially in September. Are you excited for the 6.1-inch iPhone?
