Samsung Galaxy Note 8 to be first Snapdragon 836-powered smartphone

Flagship smartphones from major brands, scheduled for launch in third-quarter of the year will be powered by Snapdragon 836 chipset

Samsung’s next flagship smartphone Galaxy Note 8, rumoured to be launched in August, would be the first smartphone fuelled by Snapdragon 836 processor, reported by Playfuldroid.

According to the reports, flagship smartphones from major brands, scheduled for launch in third-quarter of the year will be powered by Snapdragon 836 chipset. But Samsung’s flagship phone under “Note” series will feature it first in August, followed by LG V30 and Google’s Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL in October.

Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 836 SoC will be a successor to Snapdragon 835 processor, which also debuted on Samsung's flagship phone Galaxy S8/S8+. Report by Playfulroid suggests that the next Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset will feature a 2.5 GHz octa-core processor and its GPU will work at 740 MHz.

According to reports, the handsets running on Qualcomm Snapdragon 836 processor will only be available to the US market, while Samsung will be selling Exnos 8895-powered Galaxy Note 8 outside US.

Samsung is tipped to release a bigger Galaxy Note this year, “bigger and better” than the Galaxy S8+ smartphone, featuring a 6.3-inch screen, larger than the S8+ display which sports a 6.2-inch screen. Some images of the Note 8 images posted online, had suggested the handset to include dual-camera setup at the rear.
