10.or D: A phone for Amazonians

The 3,500 mAh battery is good for two days use.

The Chinese phone brand 10.or -- pronounced 'tenor' came to India a few months ago launching handsets in close cooperation with Amazon -- all priced below Rs 10,000 and offering excellent value for money. The latest -- 10.or D -- which went on sale last week, is at 5 inches, slightly smaller than the 10.or E and G launched last year and is also the most affordable.

The 3500 mAh battery is good for two days use and the phone as with earlier avatars, retains 2 separate SIM slots plus a slot for a memory card. The quad Snapdragon 425 chip-based device has 13MP rear and 5MP front cameras and comes in two configurations: 2GB RAM plus 16GB storage for Rs 4,999 and 3GB + 32GB for Rs 5,999.

In keeping with its Amazon DNA, the opening screen features preloaded apps for Kindle, Amazon shopping and Amazon Prime the on-demand video gateway. Otherwise it is stock Android Nougat 7.1.2. I did not like that I have to sign up as an Amazon user to even open the phone. But I am consoled by the fact that its 4G VoLTE readiness makes this phone future proof at least for another 2 years.

At this asking price, a good buy and I don't know of another phone in this price band that comes with a finger print scanner.
