This Sony smartphone maybe the first to carry the Android O update

The smartphone-in-question is believed to be the Sony Xperia XZ1.

An alleged Sony smartphone has been spotted again, but this time on benchmarking website, GFXBench. The listing on the website claims that the smartphone – which is believed to be the Sony Xperia XZ1 – will feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC, 4GB of RAM and the latest Android O operating system update.

The smartphone was first spotted on Geekbench sometime last week, which revealed the same specifications. What’s strange is that the alleged device has been listed as carrying the latest Android O update, along with a caption located underneath that reads, “Android Sony Edition.” If reports are to be believed then Google will officially roll out its Android O update sometime this month. Thus, it seems pretty believable that Sony’s alleged Xperia ZX1 smartphone might be among the first smartphones to carry the latest Android update.

The listing further goes on to suggest that the device will feature a 5.1-inch full HD display, and will offer 64GB of internal storage. On the camera front, the device has been reported to sport a 19MP rear sensor tagged along with a 13MP front shooter. The smartphone is also further rumoured to carry support for super-slow motion video recording.

Sony is speculated to take the wraps off its flagship device, the Xperia ZX1 on August 31 during the IFA, 2017 in Berlin. The smartphone’s unveiling may also be accompanied with another device launch. The latter is believed to be a bezel-less offering by Sony, and is further rumoured to come equipped with a 6-inch ‘Full Active’ display, with a resolution of 2,160 x 1,080 pixels, and an aspect ratio of 18:9.
