Did Sharp just show-off the next iPhone 8 design?

Apple is in talks with Sharp over a possible deal that would have the latter manufacture OLED displays for the next iPhone.

The world just witnessed the launch of Apple’s new flagship smartphone, the iPhone 7, and now we already seem to have a working concept design for its next flagship. Apple is expected to make a design overhaul for its 2017 iPhone and reports long indicate that the company might go bezel-less for the iPhone 8.

According to few online rumours, Apple is in talks with Sharp over a possible deal that would have the latter manufacture OLED displays for the next iPhone. Sharp could become the official manufacturer of display panels for the iPhone 2017, and Sharp might have just dropped some hint about how the next iPhone could probably look like.

At the CEATECH 2016 technology conference in Japan, Sharp showed off the so-called Sharp Corner R, a concept phone that presents its new bezel-less display design. Sharp has a knack for making phone displays with tiny bezels, as seen on the previously launched Aquos Crystal.

The new concept uses the company's Free-Form Display technology, which enables IGZO LCD panels to be cut into various shapes. The concept features a 5.2-inch display contradicting the screen dimension that Apple follows. It has a resolution of 1080x1920 pixels and the screen accounts for 90 per cent of the phone’s front panel.

With Apple in talks with Sharp for display outsourcing and the latter just showing off the new concept, we would probably assume and even get a glimpse of what the future iPhone 8 could sport.
