Google Pixel 2 could come with IP68 resistance, no headphone jack: report

The next Google Pixel model set for a release this year, reportedly in October, will come with IP68 water and dust resistance rating, reported technology news website 9to5Google.

Rumoured to be manufactured by HTC, Google Pixel 2 may feature a 4.97-inch full HD display with a resolution of 1080x1920 pixels. A leak by famous tipster Evan Blass had earlier suggested Pixel 2 handsets to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 836 processor. But, latest reports, citing Qualcomm’s sources, are claiming that is unlikely to happen as there aren’t any developments on an 836 SoC. As a result, both second-generation Pixel smartphones are speculated to run on Snapdragon 835 SoC like every other flagship smartphone released this year.

The 9to5Google report also suggests that Google will be launching two storage variants of the Pixel 2 models – 64GB and 128GB. The firm may ditch the 3.5mm headphone jack and feature Electronic Image Stabilisation (EIS) instead of Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS).
