Free Gear VR for Indian customers who pre-booked Note 7
Samsung has announced that it will be shipping its Gear VR headset free with the Note 7 handsets to Indian customers who had pre-booked it before the battery problem was discovered.
In addition, the customers whose smartphone deliveries have been delayed due to an ‘exploding battery’ problem will get a $50 Oculus content voucher. The customers who had pre-booked the handset were supposed to get the devices on September 2.
The pre-book information page of the South Korean electronic major had the details about the new offer made by the company, in order to compensate Note 7 buyers in India.
Earlier, the customers who pre-booked the phnoe were offered a discount on the Gear VR as an incentive. However, the scenario changed soon after reports of Galaxy Note 7 batteries exploding surfaced.
The global recall of the Samsung Note 7 devices, approximately 2.5 million devices, is a big blow to the company and has cost them over a billion dollars, according to a report on Bloomberg.
Though the Samsung Note 7 received initial plaudits for its amazing features and design, this disruption can cost them significantly, especially when Apple have already launched its new iPhone 7 and 7 Plus.
