Anti-virus measures now a must to be alert
Hyderabad: Cybercrime experts are calling on mobile phone users to be smarter and more alert.
The city of Hyderabad Cybercrimes’ ACP Mr. Raghuveer said m-commerce users had to be especially careful.
“One must also uncheck installations from unknown sources in their mobile settings. A few programmes such as battery-savers disable anti-virus measures,” he said.
The CEO for Comprint CD World, one of the largest distributors of various sorts of anti-virus applications in AP and Telangana, Mr. Satyam Gujja said all anti-virus companies were providing a life-time of free services to mobile users.
“According to our records, only 40 per cent of users, who were obtaining freeware, were actually re-activating the software on their mobiles and the remaining 60 per cent of users were avoiding them completely. Millions of mobile users can now back-up data on their phones using Google and other services and they are only focused on the back-up of stored information.
“But it must be realised that there should be equal focus be on having virus-free content too,” he said.
