iPhone 8 release date: you may have to wait a bit longer than expected

The premium iPhone 8 model is speculated to cost over $1000

Every Apple iPhone fan is waiting for the next-generation iPhone to get released this year, since the year marks the10th anniversary of Apple phones. Having said that, the Cupertino-based tech giant is expected to bring in a revamped iPhone this year, than those launched previously.

However, it seems the fans might have to wait a bit longer for the next iPhone.

The iPhone 8 which had been expected to release in September, like any other iPhone launches, may get delayed to October or November, according to a Chinese-language Economic Daily News (EDN) report.

Apple will be releasing three models of iPhone this year: a premium iPhone 8, a iPhone 7s and a iPhone 7s Plus.

According to a report by Nikkei Asian Review, Apple has alredy placed order for 70 million OLED panels with Samsung for use in this year’s handsets—the premium iPhone 8 models. The other two iPhone models-- iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus will adopt LCD displays.

The premium iPhone 8 is also said to include 3D-sensors to allow facial recognition as a part of new biometric feature.

And that’s not it. According to industry sources familiar with the supplies, all three handsets will incorporate wireless charging and True Tone, which allow displays to automatically adjust colour temperature based on the room environment, technology.

The technical issues related to the lamination process of curved OLED panels, and the adoption of a 3D sensing system are cited as possible reasons to delay the iPhone launch by a couple of months.

Taking all the technical changes to feature on the upcoming iPhone units into account, the next Apple iPhone do has the potential to woo its customers.

And as the saying goes, “The longer you wait for something, the more you’ll appreciate it when you get it. Cause anything worth having, is definitely worth waiting.”
