iOS flaw allows Siri to access photos, contacts on locked phone

Apple recently released a patch that has disabled Siri from conducting a Twitter search on a locked device.

Mumbai: Apple’s latest update to the iOS 9.3 came with a security flaw. After the iOS 9.3.1 update, Apple’s virtual assistant Siri was seen granting access to Photos and Contacts of a user even when a device was locked. This was noticed as a major safety issue for users. A patch was released on April 5 to fix the issue.

The vulnerability was using Siri’s ability to access Twitter to find an email link or phone number, which could be chosen to access an editable list of contacts even on a locked device. Through contacts, a user’s photo library was also accessible.

After the patch being released on Tuesday, iPhone users are no longer facing the issue. The patch has disabled Siri from conducting a Twitter search on a device that is locked.

The video below shows the Siri bug in detail.
