More than 300 iPhone X models stolen from a UPS truck

The truck was on its way to deliver the products to an Apple store at the Stonestown Galleria shopping mall in San Francisco.

Apple’s much hyped iPhone X went on sale today, with the pre-order numbers going ‘of the charts.’ But amidst all the encouraging statistics, there’s a bad news for the company. More than 300 models of the iPhone X have been stolen from a UPS truck in San Francisco. The thieves were able to steal almost $300,000 worth of products.

The truck was on its way to deliver the products to an Apple store at the Stonestown Galleria shopping mall in San Francisco, but the thieves grabbed the shipment before it could reach its destination, according to CBS SF.

The thieves broke in the truck and managed to take all the smartphones, whilst the truck driver was making a delivery at Macy’s.

“A witness observed three unidentified suspects wearing hooded sweatshirts exit a white Dodge van," San Francisco Police Department Captin Rick Yick said. "It appears the suspects knew what they were looking for," he added.

According to CNET, customers who scheduled pre-order pickup from the Stonestown Apple store will still get their phones on time.
