At a time when Apple iPhone and Google Pixel smartphones are integrated with voice-assistants, Samsung is also hoping to redefine its handsets by incorporating AI into them.
Samsung is reportedly preparing to introduce a new artificial intelligence Bixby in its upcoming handsets to let customers interact with their devices more naturally, via voice.
A recent trademark filed by Samsung revealed about the Bixby AI to be used for “computer software for personal information management,” “computer application software for smartphones, mobile telephones, portable computers and tablet computer, namely software used to operate voice recognition system” and “computer software for enabling hand-free use of a mobile phone through voice recognition.”
Last month, Samsung acquired US –based artificial intelligence developer Viv Labs, a firm run by co-creators of Apple Siri voice-assistant. Samsung revealed it plans to integrate AI into its Galaxy smartphones, with led media to speculate it to arrive with the launch of Samsung's next Galaxy flagship, the Galaxy S8.
