Google could rename Nexus to Pixel

The two HTC-built smartphone, codenamed Sailfish and Marlin will be called as Pixel and Pixel XL respectively.

Google may ditch the 6-year-old Nexus brand from its upcoming flagship smartphone to rebrand it as ‘Pixel’, according to AndroidAuthority.

Reports by Android Authority claimed that the two HTC-built smartphones, codenamed Sailfish and Marlin will be called as Pixel and Pixel XL respectively.

Previous rumours suggested that Marlin could sport a 5.5-inch display with 1440 x 2560 pixel resolution and powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820 chipset backed by Adreno 530 GPU. The device will pack a 13MP rear camera while there will be an 8MP front facing camera also on board. The smartphone will draw power from a 3450mAh battery and will run on Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box with 32GB of internal storage and 4GB of RAM.

On the other hand Sailfish was tipped to 5.2 inch display with 1080p resolution and 440 ppi. The device will be powered by a 64-bit quad-core Snapdragon 820 processor clocked at 1.59GHz. It will be juiced by a 2770mAh battery and boast USB Type-C port and Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box.
