2018's iPhone to feature 4GB of RAM?

A newly leaked benchmark suggests the upcoming iPhone model, out of the trio, will most likely feature 4GB of RAM.

Since there’s only a couple of months left for Apple’s next new iPhones line-up, we already knew that there are three new models lined-up for release – thanks to leaks and reports. As for now, we know that out of the expected three models, two are believed to be equipped with OLED panels and other with an LCD display panel. The OLED iPhones are believed to have a 6.5-inch and the current 5.8-inch display setup, whereas the LCD model would be featuring a 6.1-inch screen.

Having said that, a newly leaked benchmark showcases a new upcoming unknown iPhone model featuring a 4GB of RAM, which is the first iPhone to go beyond 3GB of RAM (iPhone X and iPhone 8 Plus feature 3GB of RAM) over the past 10 years of Apple's iPhones line-up.

This suggests that at least one model of the 2018’s iPhone models – most likely the larger variant (the 6.5-inch iPhone) will feature this 4GB of RAM. Apple could use this tactic to lure its customers for opting to the larger variant. Apple has been doing this since the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus models release. (where the iPhone 7 had a single camera and the larger 7 Plus model had dual cameras set up)

This appears to be a welcome upgrade to the upcoming iPhone. In addition to this upgrade, other upgrades of the future iPhones are expected to have new chipsets, upgraded cameras and other tiny refinements.

Furthermore, this leak also suggests that Apple might be opting for a bigger battery for the larger variant along with the new RAM upgrade. The new trio of iPhones are scheduled to launch in September, this year.
