Apple's iOS 9.3.1 update creates issues with WhatsApp

Apple rolled out the iOS 9.3.1 update to solve one problem, but it caused another.

Apple rolled out the iOS 9.3.1 bug fix update recently. This was to solve some issues reported with the previous version (9.3) update. However, after the iOS 9.3.1 update, users are reportedly facing issues with WhatsApp on iPhones. The issues reported are that one cannot share videos or photos properly.

Softpedia reported that those who have rushed to update the Apple devices with the recent iOS 9.3.1 update are witnessing photo and video sharing on WhatsApp. Sending photos or videos on WhatsApp using an iPhone with the updated iOS version are facing errors and are not able to download the media content to the device. An error message stating ‘Couldn’t download video. Try turning off Wi-Fi or VPN, or connecting to a different Wi-Fi network’ showed up on their screens. Following the procedures in the error message makes no difference.

However, the media sharing on WhatsApp between iPhone and Android seem to be working fine and this confirms that Apple devices are the only one that are affected by the update bug.

WhatsApp released an update earlier that fixed the photo sharing issue, but the video sharing issue still needs to be tackled. For those who haven’t updated their Apple devices, we would suggest that you hold on for a while till matters are clear. However, those who have already updated to iOS 9.3.1, should wait for the next update from Apple or WhatsApp, which should be released soon.
