Smartphones that will get Android Nougat: Find out if yours is in this list
In an attempt to refine Android experience, Google on August 22 announced the release of Android 7.0 Nougat. The software update was immediately rolled out to Nexus devices: Nexus 6, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Nexus 9, Nexus Player and Pixel C. LG’s V20 was confirmed to be the first smartphone non-Nexus phone to receive the update, while many had to wait for its arrival.
Google, Lenovo, Samsung, HTC, LG, Sony, Huawei/Honor, OnePlus and Xiaomi are among the top manufacturers who have their smartphones running on the Android. These smartphone makers are pushing an over-the-air (OTA) Nougat update on their devices, but at their own pace.
Here’s a list of smartphones that will receive Android Nougat update in early 2017.
HTC
Unlocked version of HTC 10 and HTC One M9, HTC One A9 will receive the update in early 2017, while HTC Bolt (US, Sprint exclusive) and HTC 10 EVO (European HTC Bolt) will get it within this year.
Huawei
Huawei Mate 8, P9, P9 Plus, P9 Lite, NOVA, NOVA Plus and Medipad M3 are confirmed to receive 7.0 Nougat in the first quarter of 2017. Huawei will release the update on Honor 8 in February. Honor 5X and 5C are also rumoured to receive the update this year, however, the date is still unknown.
Lenovo Moto
Moto G Play ( 4th Gen ), Moto X Pure Edition ( 3rd Gen), Moto X Style, Moto X Play, Moto X Force, Droid Turbo 2, Moto Maxx 2, Moto Z Droid, Moto Z Force Droid, Moto Z Play Droid, and Moto M are confirmed to receive the update. However, it is still unknown on which date the update will be rolled out on the devices.
LG
LG G4 and LG G3 will likely receive Android 7.0 Nougat in early-mid 2017, while the LG V10 will get in sometime around in March.
OnePlus
OnePlus 2 is said to receive the update soon, while OnePlus on January 2, announced to roll out the Android 7.0 Nougat update to both OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T.
Samsung
Samsung had confirmed to roll out Android 7.1.1 Nougat to its Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge smartphones. Samsung Galaxy A5 (2016) and Galaxy A3 (2016) are rumoured to receive the updates soon, Galaxy A5 (2014) will get within this month. The Galaxy Note 5 will likely receive the Android 7.1.1 Nougat early this year.
Sony
Sony Xperia smartphones, including Xperia Z5, Z5 Premium, Z5 Compact, Z3+ and Z4 tablets were expected to receive Nougat update in December, but the update is still not available on the devices. Sony may likely roll it out in the coming days. Xperia XA and XA Ultra will receive it in March 2017.
Xiaomi
Xiaomi Mi Max, Mi Note, Mi 4C and Mi S will reportedly receive the update in the first quarter of 2017.
