Samsung reportedly working on first truly bezel-less smartphone

A Dutch website LETSGODIGITAL has spotted a series of Samsung patents that indicate a concept for a truly bezel-less smartphone.

Samsung for the past couple of years has put its major focus on the aesthetics of its smartphones, and the Galaxy Note series and the Galaxy S are a proof of company’s obsession with edge-to-edge displays.

The South Korean giant is reportedly working on a foldable smartphone codenamed Galaxy X which can see the light of day sometime in the coming years alongside a flip phone. But wait, that’s not all, the company is reportedly working on a truly bezel-less smartphone — a device with no bezels on the front whatsoever.

A Dutch website LETSGODIGITAL has spotted a series of Samsung patents that indicate a concept for a truly bezel-less smartphone. A patent dated May 2017 shows how the company will develop such a phone by bending the screen 180 degrees and stretching it up to the rear panel of the phone.

Judging by the concept image, the device simply looks spectacular and the company says that a 180 degree display will provide a better grip. This could also be company’s first smartphone to incorporate a fingerprint sensor underneath the display and an enhanced iris scanner.

That being said, what Samsung is going to do with the front camera is still a mystery. Also the expected launch date of the smartphone is in question, since the company already has a lot of smartphones on its plate for 2018.

Moreover, Samsung is said to be working on a flip phone which can be launched in 2018. The device has already made appearances in leaked images giving us an idea of how the device would shape up. The leaked images suggest that the device will boast dual displays and the lower part will have the physical keyboard.
