Samsung to recall 400,000 Note 7 units from Korea and US
Samsung Galaxy Note 7 is undoubtedly a great device. However, recent photos surfaced from China via Baidu, would probably make users hesitate before purchasing the device. The pictures indicate a Galaxy Note 7 unit to have exploded. This incident apparently occurred while the smartphone was charging with a USB Type-C converter.
Although, the conditions in which the incident occurred are unknown; the pictures show the device having suffered clear marks of internal and external burning with the display completely destroyed. Post this, Samsung reportedly contacted the owner to offer compensation and investigate the situation furthermore. However, matters didn’t end with this as similar explosions seemed to have impacted numerous others Galaxy Note 7 users.
Now, sources are claiming that Samsung is preparing to recall approximately 400,000 units that are believed to be affected in order to replace their defective batteries. This will be done free of charge in Samsung’s service centers. Moreover, Samsung has even delayed Note 7 shipments in several countries to carry out additional quality testing.
No official comment has been made by Samsung, as of yet and the fact that devices are catching fire even when the original Samsung charger is being used, is only adding concern among present and future users.
