BlackBerry Evolve X set to make its debut on August 2
A few days ago, BlackBerry officially unveiled the BlackBerry KEY2 for the Indian markets and this premium handset with a QWERTY keyboard has been made available at a price point of Rs 42,990. Optiemus Infracom is manufacturing the BlackBerry KEY2 for Indian customers locally at its facility at Noida, thereby supporting the ‘Make-in-India’ initiative. Hardip Singh, executive director at Optiemus said that they would be launching BlackBerry handsets for various audiences and at different price categories. So the brand will be launching handsets with and without a physical keypad.
As per a report by Hindustan Times, it appears that BlackBerry has already set this plan in motion and is readying to launch the Evolve X, a smartphone without a physical keypad and it will be fully touchscreen. The report states that Optiemus Infracom will unveil the handset in India on August 2 and later on will have a global launch. This upcoming handset appears to be the rebranded version of the BlackBerry Ghost, a handset that had been running through the rumour mills some time ago.
As of now, details of the BlackBerry Evolve X are pretty scarce but rumours have suggested that it will feature an 18:9 aspect ratio that will be similar to a host of other Android handsets that are already available in the market. Previous rumours had also suggested that the smartphone will come equipped with a dual-camera setup with optical zoom and a 4000mAh battery that is larger than what most flagship handsets feature. From the media invite, we can gather that the handset will feature BlackBerry’s in-house security solution DTEK for improved privacy levels.
As of now, nothing is set in stone and more information will be available in a few short hours.
