Telangana transport department's M-Wallet marred with problems
Hyderabad: The m-Wallet, the Telangana Transport department’s mobile app, is marred with teething problems with complaints pouring in from thousands of motorists that multiple attempts made by them to download it on their smart phones failed, and if downloaded, they were not able to register or download driving licences and registration certificates.
Interestingly, the app does not support or provide registration facility for motorists who obtained driving licenses in Andhra Pradesh or states other than Telangana.
Though there are lakhs of people from Seemandhra who are residents of Greater Hyderabad, many of whom have obtained licence in AP, this app is of no use to them.
Transport commissioner Sandeep Kumar Sultania said that those from AP and other states could avail the m-Wallet facility provided they changed their address in the driving licence and registration certificate to Hyderabad.
“About 70,000 motorists registered with m-Wallet by 8 pm. There is a huge response to m-wallet. There could be typographical errors that would not allow registration. A demo has also been uploaded and people can go through it before actually going for registration,” he said.
“They might be continuing with the residential address of AP and other states. Change of address is mandatory once they stay at a place for more than two months. They should change the address,” said joint transport commissioner Mr Raghunath.
Meanwhile, there was mixed response from motorists as those managed to download and register showered praises on the app while those who could not, wanted the officials to set it right.
Ayush Jain, who could not register, posted: “Unable to register. My device is Samsung Note 3 Neo with Android 5.1.1 running. Is this device supported with the current version of the app?”
Another motorist posted: “Too good! After admins request in reply to complaint updated the new version and now I am very happy. RC card even shows the insurance details. Got everything linked to the app now, I just wish that even pollution control certificate is shown in the app (or at least option to click a photo and store). So that it will be very easy when required to produce. Thanks to the city police,” he said.
The Transport Department apologised for the inconvenience to those who could not register and said they were updating and making corrections based on feedback from people. RTA officials said the Pollution Under Check certificate facility was not available on m-Wallet yet but it would be provided soon.
