Meta Testing New Feature That Lets Users Import Followers from X to Threads

According to a report by TechCrunch, the new feature is currently in beta testing

Meta is reportedly testing a new feature which enables users to easily switch from social media platform X to Threads.
According to a report by TechCrunch, the new feature is currently in beta testing and it allows users to follow the same creators they follow on X.
“We’re currently testing a way for you to find and follow creators from other platforms on Threads, making it easier to connect with the people and conversations that matter to you,” Meta spokesperson Alec Booker told TechCrunch.
Many users and creators have left social media platform X to other platforms such as Threads and Bluesky in recent months. In the process, creators lost their massive following and users reportedly struggled to create communities they fostered on X. This feature will help users and creators make that switch easily to Threads, reported TechCrunch.
TechCrunch reported that some users were shown a pop-up saying “Find popular creators from X”, which took them to the beta feature, containing instructions on how to download their following list from X and import it to Threads.

Here’s how to import from X to Threads

1. Open X and tap on your profile.

2. Tap Settings and privacy.

3. Tap Your account.

4. Tap Download an archive of your data and wait up to 3 days to receive an email with your info.

5. Once you receive the email, download and unzip your data file. Then, find the following.js file in the Data folder and upload it to Threads.net.

This feature may help Threads gain more users and also be an alternative to X.
In January, Threads had more than 320 million monthly active users, up from 300 million monthly active users in December.
