Rescue Assist mobile app: A life-saving updation

Those indulging in life-saving acts during a road accident know the risk factors involved better than anyone else.

Those indulging in life-saving acts during a road accident know the risk factors involved better than anyone else. In those moments, nothing tops their agenda than saving another life. Mercedes-Benz is making the task easier for rescue operators with an update to the Rescue Assist mobile app. With the assistance of augmented reality and 3D imagery, this app provides more insights into a vehicle post accident in order to wade off possible elements of danger.

The app has rescue cards on it which works for Mercedes-Benz passenger cars and vans and some models from Fuso. “The rescue cards show an overview of the safety-critical components such as airbags, batteries and fuel lines. In the case of electric and hybrid vehicles, they also show all high-voltage components. With the help of the three-dimensional views, rescue teams are able to work even more quickly,” an official note of Daimler reads.

Augmented Reality makes things faster and safer. Images with photorealistic perfection come to the assistance of the rescuer by showing the damaged areas in the vehicle with precision. All these features do not demand to go online and works well in offline mode too. Mercedes-Benz has been fitting QR codes in its recent products and Fuso. Scan this QR code on a smart phone to open the app in case of an emergency.
