Vivaldi launched a new version of 1.14. The first of its kind, the browser has introduced a vertical reader mode. This update has markdown support for notes, rearrangeable web panels, and the ability to reorder search engines.

With this reader view, users can now access content and experience a clutter-free reading environment. They can change the font, adjust the line height, column width and switch to dark or light background while in reader view.

Users can now read texts in Chinese, Japanese and Korean languages with no distracting page elements. They can also choose their reading preference by accessing web pages in the settings and clicking on vertical text direction.

People will also be able to create notes in the browser’s side bar and attach screenshots while they browse. The note-taking feature has been enhanced as it has received an upgrade with Markdown support, a natural and intuitive way of applying formatting.

Formatting like headers, bolding and bulleted lists to their notes while surfing the web will be possible with this feature, which in fact makes the whole experience for readers rather convenient. This feature is especially helpful for bloggers, journalists and researchers to quickly and instantly format text.
