Xiaomi Mi 5C rumors, may launch this month

3GB RAM and 1.4GHz processor for a budget smartphone priced under ₹10,000

The Xiaomi Mi 5C has been in the works for quite some time now. Now leaks have surfaced that the launch may happen as soon as a week from now — December 6. Also, images of the Mi 5C have come up online once again, giving us a full blown view of the smartphone from all angles.

According to a report by AndroidPure, the Xiaomi Mi 5C is expected to launch at na event in China on December 6, and the price of the smartphone is pegged at around CNY 1,000 (about ₹9,900). Earlier reports had hinted at a December 12 launch, with a higher price tag of CNY 1,499 (about ₹14,800). Which of these is true, one can only know after the actual launch takes place. So till then, we will have to wait for Xiaomi’s official announcement.

The leaked images show a sleek frame with rounded edges with the fingerprint scanner housed under the home button. The phone runs on Xiaomi’s MIUI 8 operating system.

The Xiaomi Mi 5C also known as Xiaomi Meri smartphone is touted to have a 5.5-inch full-HD display with 403ppi pixel density. It may be powered by an octa-core processor clocked at 1.4GHz and is paired with 3GB of RAM. The phone is also tipped to be running in on Xiaomi’s in-house Pine Cone processor. The device will operate on Android 6.0 Marshmallow-based MIUI 8 out of the box and support NFC-based payments. Amd lastly, the 5C is expected to be released in Rose Gold, Gold, and Black colour variants.
