Google silently' takes down inactive YouTube accounts
Global search giant Google has been silently taking down profiles of YouTube’s inactive users from its database, according to a media report.
According to Shack news’ Daniel Perez, there has been a substantial drop in the number of subscribers, pointing out that even their website was hit hard after they lost over 1,000 subscribers, a couple of days back.
In his report, Perez said: “As a result of today’s purge, an average of 1 to 2 per cent of subscription have been lost by content creators. YouTube itself lost 40,000 subscribers, while PewDiePie lost 613.000 subscribers.”
While YouTube is yet to make a public acknowledgement regarding the deleted accounts, data shared by users on Twitter suggested by channel owners clearly pointed out a sharp decrease in the number of their subscribers.
In fact, a number of stat-tracking websites have also crashed due to sharp slump in the number of inactive subscriber accounts. Currently, most companies are trying to make their platforms better to bump up user experience.
While we cannot totally determine the reason for the removal of accounts, it may possibly be a move to sweep out the inactive users from the website.
