Apple may launch three Macs with its own chips

The chips will be present in updated laptops and a new desktop but details about the size of the chips haven't been confirmed yet.

Apple fans now have a reason to rejoice. If the latest rumours are to be believed, the company will be installing its custom processors in almost three more Macs by 2018. According to a report by Bloomberg, the chips will be present in updated laptops and a new desktop but the details about the size and details of the chips haven’t been confirmed yet.

The MacBook Pro with Touch Bar, which was launched in 2016 included a chip that was used to run the Touch Bar and Touch ID. And after a leap, it was only in December 2017 that Apple included a custom chip inside the iMac Pro that handled, among other things, audio, camera processing, and encryption.

And if this trend takes over, it will definitely be a big move for Mac. It will ensure independence and minimise the dependence on other companies for improvements in any kind of hardware or software. The iPhone and iPad are clear examples of processors which perform really well and if Apple starts producing everything themselves, it is a clear indication of bidding goodbye to companies like Intel.
