Football isn’t just about what’s flashy and pleasing to watch. There’s a lot of work that goes on behind the scenes and that is what Football Manager 18 is about. It is all about stats, tables, influence, training regimes and managing a larger than life organisation! As the manager in charge you need to keep egos in check, nurture the younger players, manage contracts for players and support the team.

Football Manager is a gold mine for folks who love FIFA career mode or fantasy football without actually wanting to jump into the game. Every decision you make has consequences; ranging from benching an influential squad member that could lead to a revolt in the dressing room or grooming youth players to become the next Harry Kane.

The squad dynamics introduction now gives a clearer picture of player morale and what affects it. The revamped medical centre mimics real world scenarios with an emphasis on sports scientists to fully understand the cause of your players injuries and how to keep them on the pitch for long.

As a manager you decide your lineup and substitutes but on top of that you can add individual player instructions that affects their playstyle and role for each match. However, the upgraded 3D engine is still a little clunky.

It’s easy to get lost in the world of Football Manager sometimes without even playing too many matches, thanks to the amazing depth it offers. If you’re interested in what goes on behind the scenes and want more control over your Football Club than what FIFA can ever offer, then Football Manager 2018 is definitely something you should check out. It is definitely taking the franchise in the right direction is worth your money.
