Apple Watch 2 to have 35 per cent larger battery
Apple will soon be launching the next iteration of its much awaited flagship, iPhone. The company is also expected to showcase the second generation of the Apple Watch soon.
As the launch date is inching closer, the smartwatch has been in the rumour mill for several reasons. The latest leaked images reveal that the smartwatch will pack in a bigger 334 mAh battery. The pictures were spotted on the China’s micro-blogging website, Weibo.
The bigger battery is reported to feature in the 42mm variant which is currently powered by a 246 mAh, indicating that the new version will have a 35 per cent larger battery than its predecessor. The pictures don’t reveal any battery enhancement for the 38 mm Apple Watch which is fuelled by a 205 mAh battery.
The larger battery will increase the battery life for the Apple Watch, which is currently rated for up to 18 hours of mixed usage and up to 72 hours in Power Reserve mode on a single charge.
According to KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple will be unveiling the Apple Watch 2 in two variants. One version will sport a faster processor, while the other version, will feature a GPS radio and a barometer for improved geolocation capabilities.
The reports also claim that the Watch will feature a better battery life and will not witness a design overhaul. It is also believed that the watch will continue to sport the same design for the 2017 model as well.
The new Apple Watch would fall in line with the next WatchOS 3.0 scheduled to launch this year.
