Sundar Pichai’s position in jeopardy? Linkedin \'fake job opening\' loophole revealed

After fixing the issue, Linkedin has ensured the fake listings have been removed.

Many Linkedin users were recently shocked when they found Google CEO Sundar Pichai’s position listed as a vacancy on the company’s LinkedIn profile.

Though later corrected, this security flaw – result of a bug – allowed users to post job applications on other pages without a premium subscription.

The openings would look like any other genuine applications and appear along with the other job openings.

The job opening that went up for Sundar Pichai’s position was met with mixed reactions by unsuspecting followers of the page. One user, Michel Rijnders, posted: "Applying to be CEO of Google on LinkedIn. Sundar's been doing a great job so far. Q2 earnings were strong, so a little strange to see this opening."

It was this comment that made Linkedin sit up. It responded, "Thank you Michel Rijnders for bringing this to our attention. We've removed the posting and we're resolving the issue that allowed this post to go live. LinkedIn is a place for real people to have real conversations about their careers.”

Linkedin commented that they were taking steps to ensure that fraudulent jobs wouldn’t reach members through automated technology with the help of members reporting suspicious job postings.
