Instagram strikes Musical.ly and Snapchat, allows adding music to stories

The new feature has been introduced only in seven countries including the US, Australia, New Zealand, France, Germany, Sweden and the UK.

Instagram has become a beehive for people who seek entertaining content on social media. A single scroll through Instagram serves you with an enormous amount of fun images and videos, depending on the type of people and pages you follow. Noticing that it acts as a major platform for people to share their life events, moods and skills, the developers have now rolled out a new feature which lets you add music to your Instagram stories, may it be images or videos.

For incorporating the feature, Instagram' parent company Facebook linked with a huge number of highly popular artists whose songs people would like to link their stories with. After readying the image or video, users need to select a musical sticker which bears the song of their favourite artist, genre, mood or one can also search for a specific track. The feature works a bit differently on iPhones. iOS users can select the desired track and its length before recording the video. This is an added benefit when you need to sync your videos with suitable audios.

The new feature has been introduced only in seven countries as of now including the US, Australia, New Zealand, France, Germany, Sweden and the UK. Other countries are expected to receive the functionality in the coming days.

In terms of growth, Instagram seems to briskly outperform its closest rival Snapchat which shows around 191 million users on a daily basis while Instagram has recorded more than 400 active users in a day. Muscial.ly has also gained a fair amount of popularity lately for its features of selecting music and recording videos. After releasing exciting features such as Superzoom and Highlights, the new addition could perhaps catapult the adaptability of Instagram by the day.
