A unique app for movie promotions

1D1S, an app created by city-based Samson Manickaraj, lets you lip dub to win free movie tickets.

Every week, we’re exposed to new forms of film promotion and the producers are trying newer ways to connect with the public to let them know about their projects. Now, an app aids as the mediator between the movie makers and the audience. Created by entrepreneur Samson Manickaraj, the app 1D1S is a platform, where people are getting free movie tickets or gifts for creating a positive buzz about the movie.

Elaborating about how the platform works, Samson says, “When 1D1S launches a clip from an upcoming movie, users can dub it in creative or funny ways and share with their friends. Every hour, our software monitors users who’ve created maximum buzz about the movie, and those users are given free tickets or gifts.

The movie tickets we give are usually for the first-day, but some people want it for Sunday, and we provide them that. Super-users on 1D1S also win gifts like headphones, sunglasses and more!”

The app that was launched about a month back, already has 9,000 users and the promotion for a movie reaches about 30 lakh people. Talking about how it helps connects the bankrollers and the viewers, Samson explains, “The objective is to add virality into the world of movie promotions. When the buzz about an upcoming movie goes positively viral, the movie production company should be able to track and reward people responsible for that positive buzz. 1D1S was built so a movie producer can interact with, and reward people, who are creating positive buzz for their movie.”

He also wants to keep innovating and add newer elements, apart from lip dubs.

“The gamification of movie promotions is about to begin, and it could be huge. It could be a global game changer in the way people perceive the movie as a product. Lot of factors impact a person’s decision to go to a theatre and watch a movie. So gamification is the future of movie-promotions!” Samson concludes.
