Forget bank details, just 'Pay with Google'
If you use an Android smartphone, you must have noticed the ‘Login with Google’ button while logging into apps or websites. It is convenient, fast and secure at the same time. Google now wants to do the same for payment services with their new ‘Pay with Google’ feature.
Don’t confuse this with Android Pay or any other wireless payment services — this is a completely different feature. With ‘Pay with Google’, users will no longer have to go through the process of filling those tedious and confusing forms while signing up or logging into an app or website that requires you to fill in your financial details. In short, you won’t have to hunt for your credit or debit card details while ordering your favourite pizza — Google will do it for you.
This feature will require you to fill in your credit/debit card details, addresses and all other information required by payment portals with Google. Say you are ordering food from a food app — all you would have to do is tap the ‘Pay with Google’ button while checking out and you are done — you won’t even have to fill in your address details.
Currently, ‘Pay with Google’ is natively supported for any purchase made through YouTube, Google Play, Chrome and Android Pay. Google says this service is open for all third-party developers but they will have to incorporate the new feature in their app properties.
‘Pay with Google’ was announced back in I/O 2017 and this service should aid payment processes for Google users. Google is yet to roll out another helpful feature that will allow users to send money to their contacts by commanding the Google Assistant with their voice.
