Now you can share and watch 4K videos on Facebook
4K is the entire fad these days. Whether it’s a web series or video game streaming or even daily news, watching all of it in 4K is the real deal. Until now, if you wanted to check out some quality stuff in 4K resolution, then you had the option to either switch to YouTube or Netflix. However, now there’s your friendly neighbourhood social media platform in this list too — Facebook.
According to a report from TechCrunch, Facebook is testing 4K video playback for several users. Facebook will automatically provide an option for users to switch to 4K resolution (2160p) if the video supports it. All they would need to do is simply click on the gear icon at the bottom and select 4K resolution.
However, distribution of 4K videos on Facebook will primarily depend on Internet speeds — users on mobile data and in poor network coverage areas would surely prefer to prevent touching the 4K option. On the other hand, it will provide a better option for content creators to maximise the reach of their uploads as there’s no better place than Facebook to show something to people. If you see the 2160p option on a Facebook video and are on a public Wi-Fi network, then don’t forget to check it out.
