Snapchat bids goodbye to white frames'
If you’re a Snapchat user and are bugged of the ‘ugly’ white frames that the photos from the camera roll carry, you will now have a reason to smile. The frame was actually used to indicate that the photos were old and didn’t go with the aim of real-time sharing that the app has. But it seems like the differentiation will soon be over as the frames will cease to exist. An update Thursday, January 25, indicated the same. There will now be no differentiation between the images from Snapchat camera and phone camera.
The company has gone on to comment on this new update and say that removing the border was an aesthetic choice. On Snapchat, snaps posted from the camera roll or its Memories archive will be tagged ‘from Camera Roll’ and ‘from memories’. But it is definitely a move which will help the app to be at par with Instagram.
And not only does the latest update bid goodbye to the white frames, it has also added a new option for saving inside chats. If you now long-press on a text chat, you now see an option to copy the text as well as to save it. The update also added the ability to see your friends on the ‘snap map’ inside a group chat, assuming they have shared their location.
The update is now live on iOS and we can expect the Android version to roll out shortly although no announcements have been made.
