Bizarre: iPhone 7 users drill hole' to recreate headphone jack

The video was just a pun intended at Apple for removing the 3.5mm headphone jack.

Several customers have been drilling ‘holes’ on the new iPhone 7 after watching a prank video on YouTube, suggesting that the process can help them bring back the missing 3.5mm headphone jack.

The video, titled ‘Secret Hack to Get Headphone Jack on the iPhone 7’ was uploaded by TechRax and has already fetched more than 9 million views.

In the video description section, the uploader said, “This video is for those who don't want to get $159 wireless Airpods or have to insert your headphones into an adapter every time you listen to music.”

While the video was just a pun intended at Apple for removing the 3.5mm headphone jack, some users misunderstood the point and started drilling into the rear end of the smartphone, as shown in the video.

Some users have left panicky comments below the video suggesting that their phone stopped working after they made a hole. While some were upset, some were enraged and threatened to sue the uploader.

While most people see through such pranks, there are some people who blindly follow online DIY projects or hacks without even checking if it’s pragmatic. Well, for the ones who couldn’t see though this prank, we can only offer our sympathies!
