WARNING! A flaw in Windows 10 can let hackers in, create havoc

While the issue was discovered accidentally', it is quite dangerous and Microsoft has not yet released a patch for this major flaw.

Mumbai: In a recent revelation, a dangerous Windows 10 flaw has been discovered, which lets hackers install malicious apps on any Windows 10 OS-based computing device, without the knowledge of the user.

According to a report on BGR, the issue allows anyone acquainted with Windows security evade it without leaving any trace of it on the PC or any other device.

While the issue was discovered ‘accidentally’, it is quite dangerous and Microsoft has not yet released a patch for this major flaw.

The flaw was discovered by Casey Smith, who said that it is not only limited to Windows 10 users but hackers can take advantage of this error on other windows enterprise versions dating back to Windows 7.

Smith explained that the flaw is due to a program called Regsvr32 for 32-bit machines and Regsvr64 for 64-bit architecture – both let individuals execute any code on a Windows-based computer from remote network locations.

Surprisingly, the flaw does not initiate AppLocker security software, which only lets users run apps from trusted sources and no traces are recorded in the registry as it does not need administrator access.

In a layman’s term, the error allows anyone to install and run malicious application discreetly on any machine.

While the fix has not yet been released, users can disable the Regsvr program using Windows Firewall. For more details, you can check out Smith’s findings on the issue.
