Google introduces new algorithm to reduce app update size
Tech giant, Google has brought new features to its Play Store, by introducing a new algorithm that reduces the size of the app updates. The feature also reveals the actual size of the update, before downloading it.
The company claims, that the algorithm is capable of reducing up to 50 per cent of the size of the update. The company believes that the number of app updates rolled out by developers have increased substantially, resulting in huge data usage.
The new algorithm has also been applied to APK Expansion Files for further reduction in sizes. This will help users save a lot of space on their Android devices.
Earlier, the users were unable to see the app update size, which the company seems to change with the new delta algorithm.
Google will be rolling out the update for its users in the coming months. More than 65 million apps were installed by users in 2015. This new algorithm aims to offer a solution for storage issues to the Android users.
