Get Windows 10 for free: 5 days remain
When Windows 10 was first debuted on July 29, 2015, Microsoft made it available as a free upgrade for Windows 7 or 8.1 users, and other compatible devices.
"This is more than a one-time upgrade: once a Windows device is upgraded to Windows 10, we will continue to keep it current for the supported lifetime of the device – at no cost," wrote Terry Myerson, Executive Vice President of Windows, in a blogpost.
The offer was made available to all Windows users, regardless of whether they are Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 users. As witnessed, the upgrade was pushed so forcibly that users of Microsoft products criticised the software company for their action.
However, last month, Microsoft announced to discourage the upgrade with punitive pricing.
The Windows 10 free purchase period lasts until July 29, 2016. It will cost $119.99 (approximately Rs 8,000) for Windows 10 Home and $199.99 (approximately Rs 13,333) for Windows 10 Pro.
Given Windows is the most used operating system in the world, it’s been a prime target for injecting various viruses and malicious attacks. Having unsecured systems in use is a risk to the both Microsoft as well as the end user. Thus, we suggest you to upgrade your device to Windows 10 before the offer ends.
