While installing updates for the app is important, users hardly read what changes are being brought about. People enable default settings for app updates, allowing it to automatically update when connected to Wi-Fi.
The updates take permission once and install as a cycle. “It is important to keep every app upto date as there might be flaws, like data leak, which are being addressed but are not visible to the naked eye”, said Mr K. Satish, a cyber security expert.
Consequently, not many users read about it as the information related to updates are often small and not legible.
Experts opine that especially when it comes to security updates it is good to have a look at the agreement, no matter how tedious.
“It is advantageous to understand if these updates are security and updates. It is good to read so that if there is something else which you don’t need, you need not install it,” said Mr Srinivas Kodali, independent security researcher.
